From 10 to 17 October, the international company Theater Tol settles in Sint-Truiden for a full week. Not a one-off performance, but a slow build-up: day after day the city warms up towards one great closing moment on Saturday 17 October on the Grote Markt.
It begins in a whisper. During the Saturday market the first figures appear: a master of ceremonies, a lonely bride, a trumpeter, a walking orchestra with floating, luminous skirts. They emerge from nowhere and dissolve again into the night. Throughout the week a soundtrack of its own sounds through the streets, the towers are lit, and fragments of a scene on the town hall count down to the finale. Every evening, somewhere, a brief encounter also appears: local residents, passers-by — everyone is invited to take part, so that it truly becomes a celebration of this city.
All across the city, bicycle bells turn into small, mysterious keys to the celebration. Bring yours to the Grote Markt: together with thousands of other bells and the carillon, the city itself becomes one instrument.
